As of January 1, 2010, Part D “Commercial Transactions” of the Commercial Law enters into force, which, among other commercial transactions, also regulates the franchise agreement. That is why Victoria Jarkin’s book “Franchising in Theory and Practice. Comments on the Franchise Agreement Chapter of the Commercial Law ”, in which the author analyzes the franchise as a set of rights granted by the franchisor to the franchisee for remuneration. The book provides a detailed assessment of franchise regulation not only in European Union law, but also in European Union member states, North America and elsewhere in the world. The author looks at the franchise agreement, which is the legal basis for establishing a franchise, analyzes the place of the franchise agreement in the system of civil law agreements, evaluates the types of franchise agreements in practice, describes the rights and obligations of franchise agreement participants, and comments on the franchise agreement. The book is based on the author’s doctoral dissertation, which she defended at the University of Latvia, obtaining a doctoral degree in law. The book is intended for lawyers, law students and other readers interested in franchising.
